Well folks, it's official now: Adams was right! - of course it took 30+ more years and a bunch of scientists to prove him right but the results are here: 42 is the meaning of the galaxy. I just hope that those scientist also followed Douglas' advice:

See first, think later, then test. But always see first. Otherwise you will only see what you were expecting. Most scientists forget that.
